Choosing Features and Finishes
We look forward to building your dream home with all your personal selections. You've chosen your floor plan and your home site, and now you can personalize your home to enhance your lifestyle. Our model home interiors were professionally designed and decorated by Interior Designer Susan Young of Regal Designs. The interior design selections that you will choose from during your Selections Meeting were specifically chosen by Susan to provide you quality and style at an affordable price. She invites you to contact her for consultation or advice on interior design as you prepare to move into your new home. (A fee-based service)
After the Purchase Agreement is finalized, your New Home Consultant will schedule a Selections Meeting with you within the first few weeks. At this Selections Meeting, you will choose your exterior and interior finishes, including the colors for your siding, brick or stone (if applicable), cabinets, countertops, carpet, hard surface flooring (e.g., tile, hardwood or laminate), lighting, kitchen and bath fixtures, and any optional features you chose for your home.
Your goal is to make all or most of your selections at this time. But, we realize that some buyers change their minds on some things. If you decide to add upgrades that were not included in the original Purchase Agreement, that is fine. Your New Home Consultant can guide you in making decisions that need to be determined at this meeting or soon thereafter so that building permits and purchase orders will not be held up. More cosmetic upgrades or changes that will not affect the construction of the home can be added by amendment later, if necessary.
Be true to you. Your home tells a story about you, so fill it with objects that you enjoy. Decorate for you - not for others.
Tread cautiously with trends. Trends are great, but not always practical for your lifestyle or your pocketbook. Ask yourself if the design or finishes you select today will be what you'll want to look at years from now.
Think in 3-D. Don't forget that every room has three surfaces to consider: the walls, the floor, and the ceiling. Each helps establish the mood.
Look ahead. Kitchen and bathroom upgrades tend to offer the most return on your investment when it comes time to sell your home, so don't overlook upgrades like tile and cabinetry.
The final planning step is the Pre-Construction Meeting. During this meeting, we will go over your selections with you and review your customized building plan for your home, making sure that everyone is familiar with your wishes and that your questions are answered. Joining you at this Pre-Construction Meeting will be your New Home Consultant and the Building Superintendent assigned to supervise building your home. Any notes needed to provide clarification will be put on the building plans. You will then initial the plans to indicate your approval.
